Watch anybody in an airport during a delay. The board gets refreshed, then the app, then the board again — the same information checked eleven times in twenty minutes, and none of it moves the aircraft one metre closer.
The instinct is understandable, because checking feels like doing. But the attention it eats has to come from somewhere, and it comes out of the small number of things that would actually respond to you: the phone call, the packed bag, a night's sleep before the thing you cannot control arrives anyway.
