The two halves rarely arrive together.
Sometimes ready comes first. The house is sold, the notice is handed in, the decision is made and irreversible, and peace is nowhere in evidence. You do it anyway, unpeacefully, and the peace catches up somewhere around the following spring.
Sometimes it runs the other way. You have been fine about it for a year and still cannot make yourself send the message.
Neither order is wrong. Waiting for both to be true on the same morning is how people stay somewhere an extra three years.
