Thriving is rarely uniform. Something is always getting stronger while something else is deliberately resting, and from the inside that mixture can read as failure.

Gardeners understand it better than most. A bed left fallow for a season isn't a neglected bed; it's a bed doing the specific work of recovering. The plot as a whole is still productive. It simply isn't productive everywhere at once.

Look at your own year that way. Whichever part of you is on hold right now — fitness, or ambition, or sociability — is probably resting on purpose while something else takes the nutrients. That counts as growth too, just quieter about it.
