Some people can only rest after they've earned it, which in practice means never resting properly. There is always one more item that would have justified the afternoon. Worth doesn't work on that model, though nearly everyone was taught that it does.
Consider how you assess anyone you actually love. You don't check their output first. You would have said they deserved a decent life on a day they got nothing done at all, and you'd have been right. The same standard runs backwards.
