I believe in the power of positivity.

Two people on the same rained-off building site: one spends the morning furious, the other reorganises the van and gets a head start on Thursday. The rain is identical.

Positivity gets caricatured as pretending the rain is not falling. The useful version is nothing like that. It is the assumption that a move exists, which keeps you looking for one long after the pessimistic reading has told you not to bother.

That assumption is often the whole difference between the two mornings.

Something today will not go to plan. The only question is how quickly you start looking for the next move.
