There's a version of gratitude that's just flinching — saying thank you quickly so nobody looks closer at what's wrong. That one is weakness, and people can smell it.
The other version is harder. It reads the full ledger, losses included, and still finds the column that says: still here, still fed, still able to laugh at something stupid on a Tuesday.
That takes a spine. Denial takes none.
If you're grateful today, be grateful with your eyes open. Name the thing that's going badly first. Then name what's holding anyway.
