A thought said out loud to another person loses about a third of its weight on the way across. You hear it land in the air between you, in your own voice, with all the parts that do not quite hold together suddenly audible.
Something that ran unchallenged in your head for three days can come apart in eleven seconds in a car, on a motorway, next to someone who is only half listening because they are watching the road.
Nothing was solved. It was simply moved out of a room with no witnesses into one with a window.
