Real difference gets imagined at the scale of institutions and almost always happens at the scale of a street. Somebody wrote letters for two years and the local pool stayed open. Nobody knows their name. Children who weren't born yet learned to swim there.
Nothing about that was large, or recorded, or measurable in any way that would satisfy a committee. It simply happened to somebody, which is all a difference has ever needed to be — and you are probably already making yours, in a form far too ordinary to notice.
