Nobody is watching you for a triumphant story. What actually reaches other people is duller and more useful than that: you went to the appointment, you rang the number back, you had a bad week and did not disappear.
Somebody in your life who is frightened of their own diagnosis is quietly noting that a person can be unwell and still be a person. That is the whole transmission.
