The universe is bringing me everything I desire!

Desire lists are rarely coherent. Most people want two incompatible things — the promotion and the unhurried mornings, the move abroad and the friends who live twenty minutes away and turn up unannounced.

Getting everything you want is impossible mainly because everything you want contradicts itself.

So the useful work isn't attraction, it's sorting. Which want is genuinely first, and what does it cost in the currency of the others? The answer is usually already known, and just hasn't been said aloud yet.
