Trust is not one setting. It is a collection of small verdicts, each built out of a track record — this person turns up, that one does what they said, this chair holds.
Where the record is good it genuinely does come easily; you sit down a hundred times a day without inspecting the chair. Where somebody once let you fall, the checking is not a flaw in your character. It is a scar still on duty.
Worth knowing on the days it does not come easily. The reluctance is not a defect. It is an old lesson waiting to be told the danger has passed.
