Trust in my partner is growing stronger every day.

Trust accumulates like sediment, imperceptibly, out of things too small to mention. The library book returned. The message saying running twenty minutes late, rather than an arrival twenty minutes late with no warning.

None of those are trust-building exercises. They are just a person being reliable when nothing depended on it.

Which is why trust after a breach takes so long. There is no way to speed up sediment. If you are in that repair, the ordinary week you have just had, where nothing happened, was the work. It counted, even though it felt like nothing.
