There's a particular exhaustion that comes from arguing with facts that aren't going to change. It's the pressing of a lift button that's already lit, over and over.
Acceptance isn't approval and it isn't stopping.
It's declining to spend the day's limited energy on the part of a situation that was never up for negotiation, so that something is left for the part that is.
The hard bit is that it has to be done repeatedly. Most people accept something in the morning and take it back by lunchtime. That's ordinary, and not a sign of failure.
