Affirmation to Gratitude Every day I have more to be grateful for.

Every day I have more to be grateful for.

Gratitude keeps a ledger, and the strange thing about that ledger is that nothing ever comes off it.

Things leave, of course. People leave, capacities go, and a year can end with less in your hands than it started with. But a friendship that ended still happened. Ten years of a knee that worked are ten years of a knee that worked. Grief makes it feel like something should be deducted. Nothing is.

So the list grows even when the present shrinks, provided you count what has been and not only what remains.

Add something today that's already over. It was real when it happened, and it stays real.
