I accept and receive unexpected money.

A deposit came back from a flat you moved out of eleven months ago, minus a deduction for a carpet nobody remembers damaging. Not a windfall. Still, it landed in a week when it mattered.

Unexpected money is rarely dramatic. It's a refund processed late, a rebate on the energy bill, twenty quid a cousin repays years after both of you stopped counting. The part that catches people is the accepting — the reflex that says it must be an error, that somebody will want it back.

Take it without auditing whether you deserved it. Money that arrives sideways spends exactly the same as money that arrives on time.
