Anger is usually accurate about something. It shows up when a line has been crossed, and pretending it isn't there tends to route it somewhere worse — into the tone of an unrelated remark three hours later.
Letting go isn't the same as swallowing. It's more like taking the information out of the anger and leaving the heat behind.
The line was crossed. That still needs saying. It just doesn't need saying at volume, in front of other people, with the worst example from four years ago attached.
The arguments people regret are almost never the ones where they said what was wrong. They're the ones where they said it with everything else included.
