You are always guessing. Nobody has ever had direct access to what another person feels, only to their face, their timing, the length of their reply.

So consideration is a kind of forecasting done on thin data, and it goes wrong constantly. You soften something that did not need softening. You miss the thing that mattered because it arrived disguised as a joke.

The guessing is worth doing badly. A person who is visibly trying to work out how something will land is easier to be around than one who gets it right by accident. The effort itself gets read, even when the guess is wrong.
