A cider orchard gets planted by somebody who will be nearly seventy before those trees produce a serious crop. The arithmetic only works if you are willing to think in decades.

Most ambitions are sized by the horizon they are measured against. Plan in quarters and you will want a slightly better quarter.

Plan in fifteen years and entirely different things become sensible — the qualification, the move, the slow build that looks absurd if it has to pay by Christmas.

Pushing to full potential is less a question of intensity than of extending the deadline until the large version stops looking ridiculous. What would you attempt if it were allowed to take twelve years?
