You never feel resilient at the time. During it you feel like someone barely coping, improvising badly, fairly sure that anyone else would be handling this better.
Resilience is a label applied afterward, from outside, to behaviour that felt like nothing but endurance from within. Which means your current sense of *I can't handle this* is not evidence of anything — you felt precisely that last time too.
That's the real inheritance from a hard past. Not strength as a feeling, but a record.
Think of the worst month you've had. You did not know you'd get through that one either.
