Gratitude tends to go to the impressive parts and skip the workhorses.
Ankles, for instance. They have absorbed every step you have taken — on stairs, on kerbs, on that uneven stretch of pavement outside the shop — and asked for nothing in return. Same with teeth. Same with the small muscles holding your head up while you read this.
None of it is glamorous and all of it is load-bearing. Thankfulness that only shows up for the dramatic saves is missing the ninety-nine percent that never made the news.
