Affirmation to Kindness I am the captain of my ship. I choose how my days and life unfold.

I am the captain of my ship. I choose how my days and life unfold.

A captain doesn't choose the weather. What a captain chooses is heading, speed, and whether the crew gets shouted at during the storm.

Most of what fills a day arrives uninvited — the delay, the diagnosis, the email at ten to five on a Friday. The steering happens afterwards, in the gap between the thing landing and your response leaving.

That gap is short and it's genuinely yours. Two seconds, sometimes three.

It doesn't sound like much authority. But a life is largely made of what happened in those gaps, repeated a few hundred thousand times, and nobody else has ever had a hand on that particular wheel.
