Willingness has to come before evidence. That is the awkward part — you are asked to start something before you have any proof it will work for you.

Picture an adult's first swimming lesson. Everyone else in the water appears to have been born knowing how. You are holding the edge, forty years old, being taught to breathe. It is briefly humiliating and entirely survivable.

Six weeks later you swim. The humiliation was the entry price, not a verdict on you. Being willing means agreeing to be a beginner in public for a while.
