There is a phone call people put off for three weeks. Not out of fear exactly — because ringing the surgery about it would mean treating yourself as somebody whose symptoms are worth an appointment.
Worth, in practice, is mostly administrative. It looks like taking up a slot. Asking a second question when the first answer did not land. Saying the thing you had decided not to mention because it seemed too small to bother anyone with. Nobody ever feels deserving in the abstract. They find out by whether they made the call.
