Confidence transmits by imitation rather than by atmosphere. Sit beside someone who asks the obvious question in meetings and within two months you will have asked one yourself, because you have watched the ceiling fail to fall in on them.

That is a decent reason to be deliberate about proximity. Not collecting impressive people, but spending regular time near anyone who does easily the thing you find hard — asking, negotiating, leaving at five without apologising for it.
