I feel grateful to find positives in every situation.

Some situations hand it over immediately. Others take weeks, and there is a stretch in the middle where you turn the same facts over and get nothing back, the way you check the same four pockets for keys.

That stretch is the part nobody mentions. The good thing is rarely lying on the surface where anyone could see it, and getting to it is work rather than temperament.

People who are good at this are not seeing something you cannot. They have kept looking past the point where most of us conclude there is nothing there, and been right often enough to keep the habit.
