Anyone who has been on both sides of a hardship fund tends to be careful about calling anybody less fortunate. Not because it is wrong, but because it describes weather rather than character, and weather moves. Help offered from that understanding feels different to receive. Less like charity, more like a favour between neighbours who both know how this works.
