Most people are running money rules they never chose and could not state out loud. Never ask what something pays. Never be the one who mentions the bill. Spend it before it can disappear.

The rules were installed early, usually by watching, in a house where the subject reached the table only as an argument or not at all.

They loosen when they are said plainly. Write down the rule you seem to be obeying, then check whether you actually agree with it. Some of them you will keep. At least they will be yours.
