Affirmation to Self-Help I will try new things and find beauty in every small thing that life has to offer.

I will try new things and find beauty in every small thing that life has to offer.

New things get imagined as travel — a country, a language, something with photographs attached. Most of the available novelty is much closer. A route home you have never taken. The vegetable you've walked past for years. A record recommended by someone whose taste you don't share.

Noticing is the harder half. Trying something new is a decision you can make in a second; finding the small thing beautiful is a skill that dulls with disuse.

Both improve the same way, by lowering the threshold. The bar for interesting is set far too high in most lives, and lowering it costs nothing.
