*Always* has to survive the worst moments to be worth saying, and it doesn't quite. There are hours in a life where nothing is available and the honest response is simply to get through them.
A claim that can't accommodate grief tends to get abandoned entirely at the first real test, which is a shame, because the modest version is durable: usually, if you look, there's something. Often more than you expected. Occasionally nothing, and that's allowed.
A practice you can suspend on the worst day is one you'll still have on the next ordinary one.
