Affirmation to Kindness My compassion is always finding new outlets for expression.

My compassion is always finding new outlets for expression.

Most people picture the wrong job when they picture helping. They imagine the front line — the ladle, the bedside — decide they'd be no good at it, and stop there.

Meanwhile the foodbank badly needs somebody who can build a spreadsheet, the community hall needs a person who understands insurance, and the shelter needs a driver on Tuesday mornings. Whatever you happen to be competent at is an outlet, and usually a scarcer one than compassion itself. The bottleneck is almost never willingness. It's finding someone who can read a contract.
