Affirmation to Fear My fears do not define me.

My fears do not define me.

A fear is information about what you'd hate to lose. Read the list backwards and you get a portrait of what you love. Afraid of the scan results — you want more time. Afraid of the presentation — the work matters to you. Afraid the friendship is cooling — that person is load-bearing in your life.

None of that makes fear pleasant. It does explain why it settles on the tender places and ignores the dull ones. What defines you sits underneath: the time, the work, the person. The fear is only the alarm bolted on top of them.
