The peace on the other side is less cinematic than advertised. No swelling music, no moment of release on a clifftop. Mostly it is an absence — the topic coming up in conversation and your pulse staying exactly where it was. Being grounded tends to arrive the same way, noticed retrospectively, in the fact that something which used to run your whole afternoon simply did not.
And if it comes back next month, that is not the peace being revoked. Old weather passes through ground that is still perfectly solid underneath.
