Doors closing is the part that goes unmentioned. A no you didn't want handed back a Tuesday, and six weeks later that Tuesday became something you actually cared about.
This isn't consolation logic, it's arithmetic. Every yes occupies time that then can't hold anything else, and a full calendar can't accept new things no matter how right they are.
If something recently closed, be slow to call it a setback. Look at what's now unoccupied, and be slower still about filling it.
