The universe always serves my highest interest.

A couple was outbid on a flat in 2019 and grieved it for a month. Four years on they drive past occasionally and feel nothing but relief, for reasons that had nothing to do with the flat.

Hindsight is a heavy editor. It rewrites disappointments into escapes, and it does this so smoothly that people forget how bad the week itself actually was.

That doesn't make every loss a gift in disguise. It does mean the ledger stays open far longer than the feeling does, and some entries get amended years after you closed the book on them.
