Groups get bound by what they have been through together more than by what they are aiming at. Ask anyone who worked a Christmas where the deliveries did not arrive, or the fortnight the system was down and everything went back to paper.
Years later people still refer to that fortnight. Nobody refers to the target.
What holds a team is mostly small and reciprocal. Somebody swapping a shift so you can get to a funeral. Somebody noticing you have gone quiet.
The ambition is the reason you were all put in the room. The loyalty is built out of what happened once you were in it.
