I choose to learn and grow every day, no matter what work or life throws at me

Learning doesn't distribute itself evenly across a calendar. There are quiet years where the job runs on rails, and then a fortnight — a new system, a difficult customer, a colleague who leaves suddenly — that teaches more than the two years before it.

Choosing, on the ordinary days, mostly means staying available. Asking the question you are slightly embarrassed to ask. Watching how somebody experienced holds a difficult conversation. It rarely feels like growth at the time. It feels like being a bit slower than you would like to be, in front of people.
