Nobody photographs the week after a storm: the fence panels down the garden, the insurance forms, the branch nobody has moved yet. That part is genuinely tedious, and it's also the first part that's workable.

Sun after a storm gets read as an image of relief. It works just as well as an image of visibility. What arrives first isn't happiness, it's daylight — and with it the ability to see the actual extent of things.
