Something worked on it overnight without consulting you. Sleep does not only rest the machinery. It files, it discards, and it quietly reorders the hierarchy of what mattered yesterday.
This is why a decision taken at midnight and the same decision at eight tend to differ, and why the eight o'clock version is usually the one worth trusting. Go to bed holding the problem. A surprising amount of the work happens while you are not there.
