Affirmation to Negativity Each day I am awakened with an attitude of gratitude

Each day I am awakened with an attitude of gratitude

The first ninety seconds of a day get set by whatever your hand reaches for. A phone hands you other people's emergencies before your feet are on the floor, and the mood that follows will be attributed to the day itself rather than to the reaching.

Waking grateful isn't really a feeling that can be arranged on demand, particularly at six in the morning in February. It's more like a direction you point the eyes in — the window before the screen, the fact of the warm room before the fact of the inbox. A small ordering decision, and it changes what everything afterwards gets compared to.
