The world's actual request is smaller than the one running in your head. It doesn't need a great figure. It needs someone to run the shop properly, be decent to the person in front of them, and keep one or two promises a week.
The harder audience is internal. The world will accept adequate work with real gratitude; the committee in your head frequently won't. Somewhere near you a man has spent thirty years mending shoes, solving nothing global. The street would notice within a fortnight if he stopped.
