I am grateful for the warmth of the sun on my skin.

Cats have organized their entire lives around this and we treat it as a footnote.

Sunlight on skin is one of the few pleasures requiring no equipment, no payment, and no skill, available free most days to anyone willing to step outside for four minutes. It is also, unromantically, doing things to your mood and your sleep that you would otherwise try to buy.

We skip it because it doesn't feel like an activity.

Go stand in a patch of it today with nothing in your hands. Not a walk, not a break with a phone in it. Just standing there, warm, briefly.
