Somebody starts saying out loud that they would like to live near the sea.
Nothing happens for a long time. Then a job search quietly acquires a postcode filter. A conversation at a wedding turns into a phone number. A holiday is taken somewhere with an estate agent's window in it, and the window gets looked in.
Thoughts do their work like that — not in one motion but through a hundred small redirections, most of them below the level of decision. Wanting something specific changes what you notice, and what you notice is what you end up acting on.
Say the thing out loud. It changes how you answer next time somebody asks what you are after.
