I am open to receiving money in my life.

Receiving is a skill, and most people are markedly worse at it than they are at giving. Somebody tries to hand back the twenty they borrowed and gets waved off. An aunt's cheque sits uncashed in a drawer for two years, because cashing it would mean admitting it was needed.

Refusing money often comes dressed as good manners, and sometimes that is all it is. Sometimes it is a way of remaining the person who never needs anything, which is an expensive position to hold. Let the next one land. Say thank you and nothing else.
