An older meaning of the word survives in grammar, of all places: the perfect tense, meaning complete, finished, nothing outstanding. A pear is perfect in that sense. Not flawless — entirely and completely a pear, bruise included.

Flawlessness is a standard borrowed from manufacturing, where a thousand units come off a line and the marked ones get pulled aside.

You were not manufactured. Nothing about you is being held against a spec sheet except by you — not once the list is done, not after the improvement. Whole, as delivered.
