A good night doesn't feel like anything. You wake up and the day is fractionally easier in every direction — patience, appetite, the ability to hear criticism without flinching.
Bad sleep is the reverse, and it disguises itself well. It arrives dressed as a personality problem: you're irritable, the work looks impossible, someone's tone seems hostile. Very often the actual variable was six hours instead of eight.
Worth recalling the next time you're certain everything is falling apart at eleven at night.
If you slept well, notice it before the day covers it over. That ease was manufactured while you were unconscious.
