Choosing it over something means putting something down, and the thing usually being put down is being right.

There is a version of most arguments where you could win, and everybody knows it, and the win costs three days of atmosphere in a house. The family group chat probably has one of these in it currently.

This is not an argument for letting injustice pass. It is that a surprising number of the hills people die on concern a fact nobody will remember by Friday.
