A message ending in a full stop reads as cold to half the people who receive it, and the person who sent it meant nothing at all by it. Content travels reliably. Tone does not.
Which means a great deal of communicating love is really compensation for a lossy channel: saying the warm part explicitly instead of assuming it is implied, adding the sentence you are fairly sure is unnecessary.
The people who are easiest to be around tend to over-signal slightly. They say the obvious kind thing out loud. It feels redundant from inside their own head, and from anywhere else it is not.
