The car park is where most first days are hardest. Engine off, hands still on the wheel, a full minute of seriously considering driving home. Then the door opens, the person walks in, and by eleven they've met four colleagues and it's fine. Nothing was resolved in that minute. The fear didn't lose an argument. It simply came along.
*Anyway* is the entire mechanism — not a technique for removing the feeling, but permission to move while it's still there, which is what everyone you admire has been doing all along.
Feet first. The rest catches up.
