Affirmation to Kindness I generously give and graciously receive

I generously give and graciously receive

The instant return cancels the first gift. Somebody hands you something and within a week you have found an item of roughly equal value to hand back, and the whole exchange quietly becomes a transaction that leaves nobody indebted and nobody moved.

Receiving graciously means tolerating the imbalance. Saying thank you, meaning it, and then not settling up.

That is harder than it sounds for anyone who dislikes owing. But the debt is the point. It is what keeps two people connected until the next occasion. Cleared accounts are for strangers.
