Ask anybody who finished a long piece of work what it actually ran on, and the answer is rarely equipment.
It is usually one person who kept asking how it was going. A Thursday evening defended for two years against everything that wanted it. A stubbornness that looked, from outside, a great deal like being slow.
None of that turns up on a list of requirements, because it cannot be bought and is faintly embarrassing to say aloud. It is also, reliably, what was doing the work.
Whatever you are holding now has the same unglamorous look from in here. It always does, right up until it turns out to have been enough.
